LINGUAGGI 2006

This is Linguaggi, the Festival section dedicated to discovering and deepening the elements that characterize and unite the many cultures of the world. In the series of meetings organized in collaboration with the Biblioteca Civica di Rovereto, this year’s focus is on Africa: its voice with Alex Zanotelli and Monica di Sisto, its possible, or perhaps impossible, destiny of peace and democracy with Mario Raffaelli. The African continent is a genuine workshop, a creative laboratory where the contemporary coexists, amid many contradictions, with tradition. Sandra Federici, editor of the quarterly Africa e Mediterraneo, will share the fervor of African artists, while Ayoko Mensah, director of Africultures, will guide us through the many faces of contemporary choreography. Heddy Maalem, presenting Un Champ de Forces at the Festival, will take us to a Europe whose identity is no longer defined by its centrality but by the sum of the diversities that enrich it. Africa also represents a journey, often a forced one, towards cities and the Northern world, migration in search of a better future, an encounter and clash of cultures and civilizations, and resistance. Anna Maria Gentili and Fabrizio Floris will address the delicate issue of internal migrations within Africa, from countryside to city and their outcomes. Meanwhile, Gennaro Schettino, journalist and director of Metropoli, will focus on Italy’s increasingly multicultural present and future. But an encounter of cultures also means an encounter of languages. Edoardo Sanguineti will lead us to the heart of the dialogue between poetry and dance, perhaps more intimate than that between two continents but no less significant.
