De Lonti writes: ‘It was a hot day in 1991, sitting at a table in a bar I was waiting, with Luigi Ghirri, for the Giro d'Italia to pass by and together with us, in small groups, some people were waiting in a suspended dimension of time. Across the street, the Reggia di Colorno shrouded in the light of a warm May day. The quiet is suddenly broken by the caravan preceding the tour, vendors of all kinds and advertising slogans appear filling the sound space and the street. A multitude of people crowd the sides of the road, then in a whirlwind of colour the cyclists, the group has passed, the event is complete, the pavements return to their natural daily routine and in the background the Reggia di Colorno, indifferent reflects the May light'.

From this first vision springs the beautiful photographic exhibition that focuses on the landscape of the Giro and above all on the shapeless mass of the group of cyclists crossing an area that they do not see, perhaps they sense. These sceneries that provide a backdrop for the competing athletes become the subject of an extraordinary investigation through images: urban centres, suburbs, industrial areas, plains, mountains, rivers and the sea...
