Rovereto - Teatro Zandonai e Castello Veneto

Service à tous les Étages

Antoine Le Menestrel, Service à tous les Étages

The street event has the ability to capture people's attention and to bring the artists into symbiosis with the streets, squares, building façades, historical and modern views of the city. This year in Rovereto, Antoine Le Menestrel will be performing vertical choreographic dance performances climbing two significant buildings: the Teatro Zandonai and the Castello Veneto. From the 1980s onwards, this French free climber with a remarkable technical level began performing, revealing his creative talent. At the same time, he dedicated himself to teaching climbing and from '88 to '89 took part in several vertical dance creations with the Roc in Lichen Company, after which he founded and directed the Retouramont group. The same happened in '92 with the Company Lézard Bleus, while from '93 he was dancer - actor - climber in the Company Les Piétons, with which he took part in theatrical street shows on an international tour. Le Menestrel collaborates with various companies and, at the same time as his creations, he continues to dedicate himself to teaching climbing and dance-climbing, targeting, in particular, both professionals and high-level athletes, enthusiasts, students and people in difficulty. He is the inventor of a universe defined as 'poetic, playful and spectacular'. Through a sequence of climbs, slides, leaps, suspensions and descents, fascinating choreographic movements are conceived and developed. In order to realise them, a particular technical, executive and interpretative commitment is required, based fundamentally on breathing, which is, as Le Menestrel explains, "the fifth point of support, since it helps to dominate fear". Le Menestrel's performances astound and entertain audiences at the same time. With his company Lézards Blues, of which he is artistic director, he creates points of contact between different disciplines and forms of expression such as dance, climbing and street art. In the show he created in '96 Service à tours les étages, he highlights the architectural and artistic aspects present in the city by dancing on the facades of its most representative buildings and monuments.
