Work with us
Respect for and appreciation of people and their identities, communities, are the fundamentals on which we have built our identity.
The people who work with us are our strength and our main resource. Those who work with us find a dynamic and open environment in which they can express themselves, grow and develop their professionalism.
At this moment we do not have any open positions, but it is always possible to send a spontaneous application, a project proposal, or a request for an internship at collabora@orienteoccidente.it
For the three-year period 2027–2029, Oriente Occidente is launching a call for expressions of interest aimed at selecting its new Artistic Direction.
The call is open to individual candidates or to teams composed of two people with solid experience in the field of contemporary performing arts, who are invited to submit a three-year curatorial project capable of outlining a clear, critical and innovative vision for the future of Oriente Occidente’s cultural project, in dialogue with its history and with the transformations currently shaping the international landscape.
We are seeking an Artistic Direction capable of imagining a coherent and articulated development of Oriente Occidente’s work, bringing together the three areas — Festival, Studio and People — that define its identity and operational framework.
The curatorial proposal should integrate research and experimentation with international openness and strong local rootedness, recognising and enhancing Oriente Occidente’s identity as a legacy from which to build new perspectives.
The selected Artistic Direction will work in close collaboration with the General Director and within an artistic team composed of Lanfranco Cis, founder of Oriente Occidente, in the role of Historical Curator; Marcos Morau, Associate Curator until December 2027; and Lucrezia Stenico, Artistic Coordinator and member of the permanent staff.
We are looking for an individual or a team of two people with:
in-depth knowledge of the performing arts ecosystem in Italy and Europe;
awareness that contemporary dance represents Oriente Occidente’s founding and privileged artistic language;
an understanding of the functioning and responsibilities of a publicly funded, non-profit cultural organisation;
availability to be present in Rovereto for a minimum of 40 days per year, in addition to Festival days and official presentations and/or press conferences;
availability to take part in weekly team meetings, including remotely;
the ability to work collaboratively within a team, in an open and non-discriminatory working environment.
To be eligible for selection, candidates must meet the following basic requirements:
a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification);
proven professional experience in the field;
proficiency in English and, if not already known, willingness to approach the Italian language;
no incompatibility with other appointments.
The Artistic Direction will be responsible for:
assuming final responsibility for the artistic programme of Festival, Studio and People;
developing, together with the artistic team, Oriente Occidente’s vision and direction, with attention to audience engagement, social relevance, and developments at local, national and international levels;
building and strengthening collaborations locally, nationally and internationally, and representing Oriente Occidente within the Italian and European artistic landscape;
collaborating with the General Director on strategic development;
contributing, together with the communication team, to the consolidation and development of Oriente Occidente’s identity and reputation.
Applications must be submitted by 12:00 noon on Sunday, 13 July 2026.
Requirements, application procedures, selection criteria, required documentation, and economic conditions are detailed in the Open Call.
