United States and China: A Struggle for Supremacy

Lucio Caracciolo

Lucio Caracciolo

The world today is marked by the competition between the United States and China for global supremacy. In this challenge, both protagonists invest in countries to bring them to their side, through both visible and invisible means. A third element enters this bilateral relationship: the relationship between China and Russia, two countries that have always been wary of each other but are united by the need to confront the American challenge. What are the strategies guiding these protagonists, and how do they reflect on Europe and Italy?

Lucio Caracciolo is the editor of the Italian geopolitics magazine Limes and serves as president and head of geopolitical analysis at Macrogeo. As a journalist, he has worked for the weekly Nuova Generazione, the daily newspaper la Repubblica, and was the managing editor of MicroMega. He writes for la Repubblica and the weekly magazine l’Espresso. Caracciolo teaches Strategic Studies at LUISS University in Rome and Geopolitics at San Raffaele University in Milan.
