How much does artistic production depend on the social, economic, and political situation of the territories in which artists are born, live, and work? How do artists from Eastern European countries operate? What inspirations guide their creations? What characterizes contemporary dance production in the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia? What do festivals in these countries focus on? What binds the concepts of freedom and creativity so indissolubly? These questions serve as the starting point for the reflection of FOCUS #1, a moment of in-depth analysis dedicated to the production and dissemination of contemporary dance in Eastern European countries. The Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia will be at the center of the discussion, featuring important representatives from the cultural landscape of these countries. The session will be led by Maria Luisa Buzzi, director of Danza&Danza.
