In the newspapers we are used to seeing stories of bad construction, architectural monsters and the like. The point of view of Benoit Felici, a young Italian-French director, is different: always interested in the theme of the unfinished and abandoned, he was able to capture the evocative charm of these contemporary ruins. Together with the inseparable Bastian Esser and Milena Holzknecht he toured Italy for weeks from north to south, off the maps, telling the drama of these non-works, left without end or meaning, but also the incredible stories of those who, especially in Sicily, were able to give them a new destination, perhaps less solemn but certainly more human. Because then, upon closer inspection, Unfinished Italy teaches us the beauty and potential of the unfinished: of what has not been and what else could become.
