On the market – Incarnation, Beauty, Art –

Laura Boato - indigo, On the market – Incarnation, Beauty, Art | ph Luca Giabardo.

"In the gap, in the fissure between the infinite potentials that each of us holds at birth and what we ultimately embody: here we have become entangled."
Laura Boato

Winner of the 2012 edition of the Danz’è di Oriente Occidente competition, choreographer Laura Boato received support from the Festival for the co-production of the show On the Market. The project consists of three scenes—Incarnation, Beauty, Art—that observe the same phenomenon from three different perspectives, namely what happens when “the flood of the Market” enters our lives and impacts our very observation, filtering and thus modifying the appearance of everything, and of ourselves, in our own eyes.
Incarnation presents itself as a homage to being “in potential”: it expresses nostalgia for all those potential beings that, day after day, choice after choice, are laid aside, discarded, abandoned, or simply removed.
Beauty, on the other hand, investigates the idea of beauty that we have come to reference today: a pre/judgment resulting from a complex journey that traverses cultural, social, and economic dynamics, most often unconsciously, which at the same time influences and conditions our way of decoding the world, images, objects, people, and even our perception of ourselves. Finally, in Art, in a manner that is at times surreal and at times too closely aligned with the reality that many artists experience daily, the reasons for art confront those of the market; while everything happens, on stage, Ariadne Mikou dances, beautiful and unaware, reaffirming the deep value and wonder of dance, but also our guilty unconsciousness and negligence, until the final extreme...
