At Oriente Occidente, it sometimes happens that dance itself takes the lead and decides for us, thus changing the course of creativity, reorienting the festival's compass and offering the chance to discover new creative stimuli behind what may seem like detours. Obstacles sometimes push choreographers to re-engage, demonstrating to themselves and the audience how contemporary dance is an unpredictable flow of energies, a collection of ever-evolving forms that are impossible to grasp and define, yet always capable of surprising.
And this is what has happened for this festival. The injury of one of the dancers from the Post-Retroguardia company’s performance La douceur perméable de la rosée forced the artistic direction and choreographer Paco Dècina to rethink the show, which will be replaced by La douceur backstage. Paco Dècina will share his story.
The new piece will take place as scheduled on Monday, August 31, at 8:30 PM at the Auditorium Melotti in Rovereto and will feature two dancers performing excerpts from the originally planned show. Meanwhile, choreographer Paco Dècina will intervene on stage to reveal the backstage. His narrative will focus on the creation of the show, born from experiences lived in the remote Crozet Islands at the edge of the world on Antarctic soil.
Dance and storytelling, image and music will merge to showcase all the facets, roles, and ideas that arise, grow, and transform, making the birth of a performance possible.
On stage, the dancers Vincent Delétang and Sylvere Lamotte will perform.
