A very "sui generis" politician due to his strong and very concrete interest in art and culture, and in particular in theatre, Gennaro Migliore, who in 2009 was one of the founders (together with Nichi Vendola and others) of Sinistra Ecologia e Libertà, has been following the activity of Pippo Delbono for many years, who has often commented with public interventions and written texts, among other things signing the preface of Delbono's book Dopo la battaglia (published by Barbès).
In Rovereto, on the day dedicated to the "political body", Migliore will talk about the relationship between Delbono's poetics and the political value of his choices. He will refer to the political strength of the wounded, exhausted and "lie-free" bodies (the quote concerns one of the strongest pieces in Pippo's repertoire, La menzogna) that populate his shows. Authentic and intense bodies, capable of bursting onto the stage, challenging every relationship between reality and fiction. The politics that besieges us and offends us is fake, observes Migliore, while the poetry that can move us before making us "think" rationally is true. In one of the historical moments of its greatest disgrace, politics must unlearn its dead codes and invent new ones. Just like Pippo Delbono does with his theatre, which can become a warning and outline directions and paths.
Gennaro Migliore began his political activity in the student and pacifist movements. He was a city councilor in Naples and then president of the Rifondazione Comunista parliamentary group in the 15th legislature. He founded, together with Nichi Vendola and others, Sinistra Ecologia Libertà in 2009, of which he is now responsible for international policies, after having held the position of culture manager. He is a member of the Mediterranean Cultural Parliament, as part of the project promoted by Michelangelo Pistoletto. He followed the poetic activity of Pippo Delbono for many years, participating in numerous meetings on his work and publishing a dialogue on La menzogna which appeared in the magazine Alternative per il socialismo and a preface to Dopo la battaglia, published by Barbès, 2011.
