In the era of staging and mystification, in the TV era of fiction and reality, information seeks a path away from the temptations of plausibility. What is the role of journalism today? Is there still room for this profession? And do facts, the telling of events and reality still have a reason to exist? Old ideals and new roles of journalism on the one hand and on the other a world in which it is increasingly difficult to distinguish between fiction and reality. Talking about what is perhaps the greatest challenge facing information today is Enrico Mentana who talks with the director of Il Trentino Alberto Faustini.
Mentana has certainly marked the history of Italian journalism. After starting his career at Rai in the foreign editorial office, he was the host of Speciale Tg1 and then the host of the current affairs program Altri particolari in cronaca on Rai Due. In 1992 he moved to Mediaset and became director of the newly formed Tg5, which he helped grow over the years until it became one of the most anticipated events in national news, and later became the creator and host of Matrix.
