Passage to Northwest

Enrico Tettamanti

Enrico Tettamanti, sailor

One of the great myths of navigators: the Northwest Passage is the maritime route that connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean in the Northern Hemisphere, passing through the archipelago of the Arctic Ocean. In July and August 2017, the crew of the Kamana, captained by Enrico Tettamanti, successfully completed the Northwest Passage, following the less famous and less traveled route that goes from West to East, becoming the first Italian crew in history to undertake and complete the venture. They covered 3,550 nautical miles in 33 days, with an average temperature of 0/5 °C and 24 hours of daylight. An incredible adventure that speaks of great ideals, historic explorations, and climate change.

Event in collaboration with Montura Editing.

Enrico Tettamanti is a sailor from the mountains, hailing from Pomarolo in Trentino. He has been sailing since he was a child and has been a professional skipper for 20 years, having navigated over 190,000 nautical miles worldwide. He has rounded Cape Horn seven times and completed 20 ocean crossings at various latitudes. In 2002, he launched his first project, "Kamana," aimed at making extreme sailing accessible to everyone by navigating in the most remote areas of the planet. Since then, Kamana Expedition has become synonymous with exploration and expedition. He is one of the few skippers in the world to have reached all the most significant polar destinations, including Antarctica, Greenland, and Alaska.
