Movie - How I ended this summer

Aleksei Popogrebsky

Pavel, a recent graduate, volunteers for an internship at a meteorological station on a remote Siberian island in the Arctic Ocean. Awaiting him is the gruff Sergej, who can’t wait to return to his son on the mainland. The only contact with the outside world is the radio, which one day will bring a terrible announcement. Popogrebsky, one of the best Russian directors of the latest generation, skillfully crafts a tense and moving psychological drama, perfectly attuned to an extreme and dazzling landscape. The director has stated: "Since childhood, I have been fascinated by explorers' ability to come to terms with notions of time and space that are so drastically different from our common measurements. This film is essentially the story of two personal (and incompatible) scales of space and time."
