Bus Stop - Asking questions

Alessio Maria Romano

Where is my body? What am I in space? What is dance? And what about the boundary? My limit: what is it?

Alessio Maria Romano is back in our Studio for the second edition of Bus Stop with questions that he will strive to answer in three stages aimed at professionals who would like to undertake a journey with him through body, movement, and thought.

With a background influenced by the theories by Laban/Bartenieff, the choreographer suggests an educational practice of working on movement and on dance intended as a constant artistic and scientific research, a journey studded with questions.

The three stops are designed for dance and theatre professionals. You can participate in the complete programme but also get on board for just one stop. It is not necessary to attend each meeting and none of the stops is preparatory to the others.

The workshop is part of the EXPERIMENTING section.

ALESSIO MARIA ROMANO

By alternating the constant study of contemporary dance, acting and movement and personal choreographic research with his work as an educator, Alessio Maria Romano is both a choreographer, Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst (CMA) and teacher of physical training and stage movement at the "L. Ronconi" school of the Piccolo Teatro in Milan.

Since 2016 he has devoted himself to choreography and created “Dispersi”, “Choròs”, “Avida Dollars” and lastly “Bye Bye” which he took to the Biennale Teatro 2020. With the project “Choròs. The place where people dance” he was our guest at the 41st edition of the Festival.

He won the Italian National Critic's Award (ANCT) 2015 as an educator and theatre choreographer and in 2020 he received the Silver Lion at the Biennale Teatro.
