Vinática

Rocío Molina, Vinática | ph Félix Vazquez

"...and there are performances that are the awakening and the hangover of the works that were: still intoxicated by the rarefied images of the dream just finished, intent on telling them, so evanescent and fragile, before they disappear with the next tide."
Roberto Fratini

Vinática is a performance from 2010 that has undergone a constant evolution over the years. Following this transformation process, Danzaora-Vinática presents itself as a flamenco recital that on one hand does not want to fully propose the aesthetic-narrative landscape of Rocío Molina's previous works, but on the other hand cannot renounce the poetic suggestions that had characterized them. If Vinática represented something like an emerging state in which Rocío Molina confronted her metamorphosis from dancer to "danzaora," Danzaora-Vinática consciously looks at this initiation, at this rite of passage to the experimental dimension. Rocío Molina, with the term "danzaora," indeed suggests the vision of a new universe of dance, where the elements of interrelation are constitutive of a whole, a new language that summarizes her personal view on choreutic art. Danzaora-Vinática thus proposes itself as an open project, through which Rocío Molina intends to present the ideas that emerge in each performance, pushing her profession one step further, in a work of meticulous decomposition of the technique acquired over the years, in order to become more aware of her codes.

Rocío Molina, dancer and choreographer, was born in Málaga in 1984 and began dancing at the age of just three. By 2001, she had already joined the company of María Pagés, with which she undertook tours throughout Europe, Japan, Canada, and the United States. In many respects, she is considered by international critics to be the most important flamenco dancer today. A performer of extraordinary talent, as a choreographer Rocío Molina has contributed to creating one of the highest expressions of contemporary flamenco, proposing a completely evolved form of the genre, while remaining absolutely faithful to its origins. The "danzaora," this term born from her need to define the expression of a new language in the universe of dance and movement, effectively introduces new aesthetic and choreographic ideas, with a spirit that revolutionizes and transforms flamenco of the time. Rocío Molina's career is filled with awards and recognitions. In 2010, at the age of just 26, she had the privilege of receiving the highest recognition in the world of art, culture, and dance in Spain, namely the National Dance Award, awarded to her by the Ministry of Culture for "the contribution made to the renewal of flamenco and for her strength and versatility as a performer, capable of handling with freedom and courage the most diverse registers."
