Sci-fi, or rather, the acronym that indicates science fiction in the English world. A genre that is not very popular in Italy except at the cinema, it is actually an authentic source of stimuli and reflections on the open questions of humanity, on visions of the future, on the relationship between the body, ideas, social systems and technology. Anglo-Saxon literature has made it the favorite place for great social criticism of the present, cinema has housed fears and anguish there. The project by koan01 and ootchio moves through sounds and images, processed and connected live, in a live media performance to question the validity of the promises, or torments, of the abundant science fiction production. And it does so by re-amalgamating on the screen the film material of great masterpieces such as Metropolis, Blade Runner, 2001: A Space Odyssey on a live sound that combines an electroacoustic set with quotes from some of the great experimenters of 20th century music, from Luigi Russolo to Stockhausen, from Luciano Berio to Xenakis. This is not a simple projection and soundtrack, but a unitary work in which improvisation and creativity, focused on the themes of the “City of the Future” and “Interstellar Space”, play an important role thanks to the skill of Massimo Vicentini (aka koan01), multimedia artist and web designer and Salvatore Arangio (aka ootchio), eclectic musician.
