In his career that began exactly thirty years ago from the ranks of the Yellow Magic Orchestra, a leading formation of Japanese electronic pop, Ryuichi Sakamoto has done everything, and more, ranging across genres and latitudes: in music, but not only, as demonstrated by his frequent contacts with cinema, between soundtracks and significant roles as an actor. Throughout a discography that adds up to about one hundred titles, we find intuitions and signals that go in every direction, that draw from and address the East as well as the West. In the portrait-meeting that precedes his concert, this frenetic, intense, precious activity will be accounted for, for a critical-biographical overview integrated with rare and unpublished footage.
