An encounter is possible at a distance. Replica comes into being in this way, inhabiting the space that allows us to see the Other—a space where we oscillate between care and conflict, between human and animal, between discipline and fury. Where a caress is measured against friction, where hair is vanity and vacuity, where harmony is found through conflict, and disparate forces find a field where they can sniff each other out. In that space, when two people meet, nothing remains the same: forms crack, shift, resist. So many doubts—what a wonder.
