We are in Valstagna, Canale di Brenta, Valsugana, province of Vicenza. Here there are hundreds of kilometers of "masiere, dry limestone walls erected to obtain land for tobacco between the 17th and 19th centuries" (Mauro Varotto) under the protection of the Republic of Venice. On those small "plots of land" today the counter-trend destiny of different characters is played out, committed to giving new life to a landscape that is mostly in a state of abandonment. There are those who stubbornly and proudly cling to the ancient family farm, those who leave their jobs as workers in a quarry to find themselves, those who come from the urban world and decide to take care of fields and dry stone walls thanks to an innovative adoption project, and those originally from Morocco, married to a Czech woman, manage a pizzeria cultivating the dream of integration for their children without forgetting the beloved flavors and aromas of their childhood. The film is a message of hope for the marginal mountains and a story about the universal value of the connection with the land, which regardless of economic interests, political impediments, cultural barriers.
