Oriente Occidente has been the subject of documentaries, broadcasts, and reports by RAI5, the Rai channel dedicated to culture, for several years. On August 27 at 8:30 PM, the two new productions filmed in Rovereto and dedicated to the world of dance will be premiered in the Conference Room of the Mart.
OrienteOccidente - Bodies, Rhythms, Dances
For over 30 years, the Oriente Occidente Festival has been held in Rovereto, featuring performances, dance, music, and theater in various locations throughout the city. It showcases the merging of different civilizations and cultures, their traditions, and their cross-pollinations. What unites or divides them? A retrospective on the evolution of contemporary dance accompanied by testimonies from those who have lived it. Speakers include Lanfranco Cis, Paolo Manfrini, Maria Luisa Buzzi, Michela Lucenti, Leonetta Bentivoglio, and Virgilio Sieni.
Abbondanza Bertoni - A danced film
The danced film with the Abbondanza Bertoni company is a dual journey, exploring the poetic world of one of the most interesting and original pairs in contemporary Italian dance, while also showcasing one of the most beautiful theaters of the 18th century, the Zandonai in Rovereto. Accompanied by two otherworldly figures, an angel and a little girl—beings outside of time who enter and exit the stories referenced—we traverse a thirty-year repertoire of choreographic pieces specially reimagined for the occasion. From Esecuzioni to Capricci, from Le fumatrici di pecore to Polis, from Scena madre to Duel and Try, the film unfolds the narrative of a poetic universe. The evocative power of a dedicated space, the room designed by Maccari, triggers memories and fantastic projections, where fragments of a past still present emerge, and possible futures are imagined. Directed by Felice Cappa, the film is a special project of Rai Cultura.
