Dall'invito al proscenio. Nuovo Concerto Cantoni

The Nuovo Concerto Cantoni was formed by Massimo Ferraguti, inheriting the great tradition of the Concerto Cantoni, whose origins date back to around 1861, the year in which Giuseppe Cantoni, a native of Casale di Mezzani (in the deepest “bassa” of Parma), founded the “Concerto a fiato”, together with other valid musicians of the area. From the beginning of the last century, the Concerto Cantoni began to make itself known in the Parma area and in the neighboring provinces, invited on the occasion of festivals and peasant celebrations dedicated to the harvest and the grape harvest. The group's repertoire has always included the most famous arias by Verdi, alongside popular pieces. And it is precisely thanks to this particularity that Bernardo Bertolucci involved the Concerto Cantoni for the music of La strategia del ragno, Novecento and La tragedia di un uomo ridicolo. The Nuovo Concerto Cantoni includes in its staff soloists and first parts of the most important Italian lyric and symphonic institutions.
