NATIONAL PREMIERE
The choreography by the Hungarian artist Pál Frenák is one of flesh and blood and the imposing stage setting where the dance takes place emphasizes further the remarkable physical quality of this performance. Inspired by the theme of flight and Alan Parker’s film Birdy, this creation investigates the idea of walls and barriers, both psychological and physical, historical and social and the possible means of overcoming them. The performance takes place in a large metal pyramid that works as a labyrinth where five dancers fight each other and themselves as they try to find a way out. These fragile yet powerful dancers are accompanied by the electroacoustic music of Norman Levy, performed live on the cello.
