THE NEW CALL
The 2027 call is now open to select new artistic residency projects: a period of research and creation hosted in the spaces of Oriente Occidente Studio.
This year, the call is divided into three strands: D.Arte Residencies, in collaboration with Mart - Museo di arte moderna e contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto, Participatory Residencies, and Research Residencies. Artists, collectives, and companies working in the field of performing arts, whose research focuses on the body and movement, are invited to apply.
The selected companies will receive financial support. Projects chosen for D.Arte Residencies and Research Residencies will also benefit from curatorial mentoring.
D.ARTE RESIDENCIES – 2 projects selected
Since 2024, Oriente Occidente and Mart - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto have collaborated on the D.Arte project. The residency focuses on the relationship between the body and the museum experience in all its complexity, encompassing engagement with architecture, the artworks on display and, more specifically, the relationship between visitors and the museum environment.
PARTICIPATORY RESIDENCIES – 1 project selected
The Participatory Residency is dedicated to participatory artistic projects and practices that place relationships with communities, people and local territories at the core of their work, developing as processes of mutual exchange and enrichment.
RESEARCH RESIDENCIES – 3 projects selected
The Research Residency is designed for artists, choreographers, collectives and companies who need time and space to investigate an idea, develop a practice, experiment with materials, or open a new phase in their artistic research.
Projects will be selected by two separate committees:
For the D.Arte Residencies, the selection committee will be composed of the Oriente Occidente Curatorial Team: Anna Serlenga, Artistic Director; Marcos Morau, Associate Curator and internationally renowned choreographer; Lanfranco Cis, Senior Curator; and Lucrezia Stenico, Curator and Team Coordinator. They will be joined by Denis Isaia from Mart's Collections Department, Luisa Filippi from Mart's Events Department, and independent curator Antonio Grulli.
For the Participatory Residencies and Research Residencies, the selection committee will be composed of the Oriente Occidente Curatorial Team: Anna Serlenga, Artistic Director; Marcos Morau, Associate Curator and internationally renowned choreographer; Lanfranco Cis, Senior Curator; and Lucrezia Stenico, Curator and Team Coordinator. They will be joined by Linda Di Pietro, Artistic Director of BASE Milano; Michele Mele, Co-Artistic Director of Operaestate Festival Veneto; and Chiara Organtini, Artistic and Organisational Director of Lavanderia a Vapore.
Applicants may apply to one or more strands of the open call. However, each artist, collective or company may submit only one project per residency strand. The call is available in Italian, English, German, Spanish and Arabic. Applications may be submitted in Italian or English.
