In an increasingly contaminated world, even the disciplines of knowledge and creativity no longer have certain boundaries. Indeed, it is precisely from the dialogue between the different creative languages that unexplored horizons and new ways of interpreting reality, society, the present arise. Every year, Futuro Presente investigates themes and ideas – taking various inspiration from trends, achievements or characters – through shows, exhibitions, meetings, concerts, debates, in a dense dialogue between art, dance, literature, science, essays, journalism, cinema, photography, writing and their interpreters.
Precisely the typical tension in dealing with the hottest and most current topics has pushed the “Permanent Laboratory on Contemporary Languages” to deal with a concept extremely rich in symbols, connections and implications that touch on history, knowledge, human beings, social relationships, visions of the future and much more: the landscape. A journey that begins with this autumn edition and will continue in the spring with a series of meetings, events, workshops capable of illuminating possible paths of in-depth and creative.
The program of this autumn focus brings us face to face with intellectuals, philosophers, architects, writers, films, books that help us take a more conscious look at the places we live in. Because knowing how to look and understand is the first necessary step to tell and imagine. Here then are the definitions of landscape in history, art and philosophy told by Paolo D’Angelo, here is the new frontier of the so-called “third landscape” rendered in living voice by Gilles Clément, a true point of reference at European level. But the original characteristics of the Italian and Trentino territory will not be forgotten thanks to interventions relating to the unique and very particular relationship between city and countryside – the latter increasingly consciously thought of as necessary – and to the rural colonization of our mountains.
But the landscape must also be told. Because glimpses, places, territories, suddenly no longer pass before us forgotten, but acquire a new meaning even just because a particular gaze rests on them and sees something that escaped the majority. A particular light for a photographer or an artist, a story for a writer or a director. The landscape becomes a story and as often happens it is the artistic creations that anticipate what philosophy, architecture and other knowledge help us to define with greater accuracy. In these intuitions that feed on the artisanal work of intellectuals, enthusiasts, men "in search" is also the story of the territory we live in today. Perhaps far from purely nostalgic drifts - even if sometimes necessary - and able to provide ideas for important reflections on the present we live in and the future we want.
