3 choreographers – 30 dancers – 5 days

Rovereto Choreographic Lab will take place in the dance studios of CID Centro Internazionale della danza and Urban Center from September 11th to September 15th 2017.
The lab will be led by choreographers Chiara Bersani (IT), Michael Turinsky (A) and Anouk Llaurens (NL) and it will gather participants from Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland.

Chiara Bersani is an Italian artist working in the performing arts. Her formative path takes place mainly in the field of theatrical research with influences from contemporary dance and performing art. Suffering a moderate form of Osteogenesis Imperfecta, she is interested in the political meaning that a body can just take with its own image when interacting with the society. As an outcome of this considerations took place the inquiry path on the Political Body, started in 2013 and divided into Goodnight, peeping Tom (performances for 5 spectators), Miracle Blade (Film), Tell Me More (performance with a chorus of 8 male voices). In 2016 she started collaborating with the choreographer Marco D’Agostin with whom she created, in 2017, The Olympic Games, co-produced by K3 | Kampnaghel (Hamburg) and the European project BeSpectACTive!

Anouk Llaurens
is freelance dance artist, teacher, researcher based in Brussels. She graduated from the CNDC, Angers (F) in 1992 and worked for Belgium choreographers. Anouk danced for Michèle-Anne de Mey, Barbara Manzetti, Tony Thatcher and Yolanda Snaith. She choreographed several solos. She met Lisa Nelson in 1999 and since then committed to Instant Composition and trans disciplinary performances. She collaborates as a performer with Julien Bruneau (B) and recently completed a.pass post-master program with a research on poetic dance documentation. Anouk teaches for many dance companies and institutions in Europe. Among them are Candoco, Charleroi Dance, Contredanse, The Laban Centre and Independent Dance. She is one of the Belgium “key teachers” for the European project IDOCDE (International Documentation for Contemporary Dance Education).

Michael Turinsky graduated with a Master of philosophy at the University of Vienna. He lives and works as a theoretician, choreographer and performer in Vienna. His background in dance includes internationally recognized teachers, such as Adam Benjamin, Fabiana Pastorini, Barbara Kraus, Corinna Mindt, Philipp Gehmacher, Keith Hennessy, Miguel Gutierrez. He started his career as a choreographer in 2008. His internationally toured performances include “heteronomous male”, a performance about heteronomy and masculinity, shown amongst other places as part of the Antistatic Festival in Bulgaria, but also in theatres in Geneva, Vienna and Salzburg. His work “my body, your pleasure”, about pleasure and disability, was shown at HAU (Hebbel am Ufer) Berlin. At Tanzquartier Vienna he lectured in the frame of “Swaying – non-aligned bodies and contemporary performance” 2015.
